Leopardstown Racing

Few nations can match Ireland in the quality and prestige of its horseracing fixtures. The best known course is the Curragh and it is just one of the many outstanding courses within easy reach of the capital city Dublin, another being Leopardstown, one of Europe’s most highly regarded courses.

Leopardstown Racing, inside rail Leopardstown racing takes place in the historic market town of the same name, situated 8km from the capital and provides racegoers, whether visitors or residents with superb year round sporting entertainment of the very highest quality.

The course at Leopardstown dates back to 1888 and was designed using Sandown Park in England as a model. Throughout its history it has played host to the greatest horses and riders in both Flat and National Hunt disciplines. Typical of courses in Ireland, hosting flat and jump racing allows for continuous races throughout the seasons and therefore ample opportunities for racegoers to experience the thrill and fun of Leopardstown racing.

Of the 22 annual fixtures held at the course the highlight of the Flat season is the Irish Champion Stakes which along with the Matron Stakes is held in September. The Derrinstown Stud Derby is a further Flat event of note and the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and Irish Champion Hurdle are the main National Hunt fixtures which define Leopardstown racing in January and February.

While the appeal of Leopardstown will always be the quality of the racing on show the course incorporates a full range of additional leisure options for visitors. Contained within the middle of the track is a full 18 hole golf course and floodlit driving bay with 78 bays.

The social aspects of race day do not end with the races either; Fillies Cafe Bar is the ideal spot for dining and drinks and has a patio and outdoor bar open for summer Leopardstown racing, and from Thursday through to Sunday nights the on-course nightclub, Club 92 is open.

For race day dining in the style for which horseracing has become so renowned there is the Silken Glider Restaurant in which tables can be reserved for the entire day’s races.

With great race views from the second floor of the Reserved Enclosure Stand, the restaurant also overlooks the parade ring and presents the ideal elegant environment from which to enjoy the races in style. Additional bars and suites are open during raceday and can be booked for private functions and corporate gatherings at any time.

Leopardstown Racing, photo finish Admission into Leopardstown starts from €15, rising to €25 on premier racedays. Visitors can access the upper level of the enclosure for €30 on standard racedays and upgrades are available at any point on the day.

A great venue for corporate events, large groups can be catered for within the new Pavilion which can host events for between 200 and 100 persons. Situated by the home straight the Pavilion benefits from a glass front offering great race views and is convenient for the parade ring, grandstand and other course features and facilities.

A further two private suites can be utilised for raceday hospitality. The Centenary Room has a capacity for up to seventy guests while the Levmoss Room can hold up to 120. The spaces can also be joined for parties up to 170.

These suites are located on the third floor of the grandstand and come with a private bar, Tote betting facilities and CCTV. Smaller groups can take advantage of the private boxes which can accommodate 12 for a sit-down meal or 24 for a buffet. A selection of drinks and dining packages are available and can be catered to suit any style and size of event.
